Food & Beverage / Lodge Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include forecasting, planning, and managing all F&B orders, Lodge activities, and personnel. The Food & Beverage / Lodge Manager works closely with the entire Hidden Valley team to successfully fulfill all food, beverage and lodge needs and provide an excellent guest experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all Lodge and F&B day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards.
  • Ensure creative menu planning and effective cost control measures.
  • Order and maintain inventory of food, beverage, cleaning and bar products as business dictates.
  • Clearly describe, assign, and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various food and beverage sub-departments, e.g. bar, dining room, kitchen, custodial, etc.
  • Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity.
  • Ensure that all products are being properly stored and rotated.
  • Ensure lodge, including bathrooms, dining, patio, entryways and production areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure staff is trained in the safe use/handling of all food and beverage product and kitchen equipment.
  • Keep the Director of Inside Operations informed of all operational and personnel issues.
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation of food to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.
  • Assist in the scheduling of staff hours and assign duties.
  • Establish standards for personnel performance to ensure excellent guest services.
  • Perform food preparation or service tasks such as cooking, clearing tables, and serving food and drinks when necessary.
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs, as well as coordinate a variety of services.
  • Perform all other duties as apparent or assigned.

QUALIFICATONS:

  • Associates degree in culinary or related field; and 3 years of food and beverage management experience preferably in the ski industry, or related field; OR any combination of education and experience equal to the above.
  • Must have a current food safety certification and/or be able to obtain a Serve Safe food protection manager certificate within 45 days of employment.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Requires strong computer literacy of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software programs as needed.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and follow-up.
  •  Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment, as well as be able to multi-task and stay focused.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with heights.
  • Knowledge of pertinent health regulations and liquor laws.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Group Sales and Events Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include actively researching, promoting, booking, and coordinating group and special event business on a year-round basis. The Group Sales and Events Coordinator works closely with the entire Hidden Valley team to successfully fulfill group sales and special event needs and provide an excellent guest experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively seek new group business that supports the goals of the marketing and sales plan for the Resort.
  • Create, plan, coordinate and execute special events.
  • Respond to group inquiries that come to the resort via the website, phone, email, referrals, and word of mouth.
  • Distribute information and solicit new business.
  • Work with group leaders to plan and coordinate all aspects of a group visit to Hidden Valley.
  • Coordinate with resort management and Hidden Valley Departments on group and special event activities.
  • Coordinate with marketing to promote and publicize an event,
  • Greet group leaders with pre-printed lift tickets, rental vouchers, etc.
  • Create rapport with vendors and be able to negotiate contracts, collect multiple bids.
  • Responsible for reconciling group invoices and collecting all payments.
  • On site presence at local and regional events.
  • Perform related duties as apparent or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATONS:

  • Bachelors degree in business, public relations, marketing or related field; AND 3 years of group sales and special event experience preferably in the ski industry, or related field; OR any combination of education and experience equal to the above.
  • Group sales and event organization experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be comfortable presenting in front of large and small groups.
  • Must have good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the use of computerized applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, P.O.S. systems, internet and email communications. Demonstrated ability to learn other selected computerized management applications.
  •  Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment, as well as be able to multi-task and stay focused.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Cash handling experience is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Independent travel is required.
