Getting Ready for Winter!

The season is just around the corner! We are hoping to begin making snow next week in preparation for our projected opening on Saturday, December 15th.

It has been a busy off season at Hidden Valley and not just with zipline construction. Before beginning the ZipTour project, we spent a busy spring and summer making improvements and enhancements to our resort. One big change every visitor will experience is our new variable frequency drive in the Gateway Lift. This will enable our lift staff to slow and speed up the chairlift, leading to a better loading and unloading experience along with less stops to the top. We also spent a lot of time addressing water runoff issues on the main side of the hill by installing multiple French drains to steer the water away from the snow and into a single place by the bottom of East Mtn lift. We hope this will help whenever we experience heavy downpours or the occasional mid-season warm-up. Our rental staff has been busy as well, with more new equipment rolling into our shop, both skis and snowboards.

We made improvements to our SnowMaking arsenal by converting older style Highland and Wizzard guns into Polecats. This will improve the quality and quantity of snow that we are producing. The teaching area above the carpet lift has also been expanded and we hope to have a dedicated Snow Monster and Mini Shred area for our little rippers!

The Polar Plunge Tubing Park has also received a makeover with landscaping and the addition of lights to the carpet lift that takes tubers to the top. Inside the lodge, you will see a new reception area that is more open and welcoming and a few changes in our food menu!

From the events side, we continue to expand our lineup, with the addition of a college midnight session every Friday night beginning in January! 50% off lift and rental with a valid college ID for the 8pm – 1am session. We will have live music in the lodge those nights. We are also bringing back the adult racing league. Starting in January, every Wednesday night a course will be set on Eureka and anyone can experience the thrill of racing. The series will run all season with multiple prize categories and some pretty sweet swag up for grabs.

We hope you will join us this season and experience winter like never before! The season is just around the corner!

Our SnowMakers are hard at work today testing all of our snowguns, and getting ready for a great season!
